My cat likes Oreos. I twisted it and offered the half with the least filling stuck to it, and she helped me lick it. We bypassed the dunking stage in favour of cuddles.

Yksi and I went to see the Pyrates, who were performing as part of the Sidmouth Folk Festival. They were outside and there was a beer tent and a bunch of kids standing around, and it was a lot more fun than their inside gigs that we've been to. Oh, and we dressed as pirates:

Yarr, the paintin' be belowdecks )

No I cannot grin without looking like a spazz.

Oh, and I've been watching series four of Stargate Atlantis. Highlights: Lorne sleepwalking (barefoot), every time Keller looks like she's about to say "shiny!", John taking Ronon to his Dad's funeral as if he was his boyfriend, Radek being a small tunnelling creature, Ronon and Teal'c being just like Kirk and Spock in the latest Star Trek movie (as in, there were moments when I thought they were going to fuck it out.)
IT'S LIKE A BIG GAY PARTY IN THE PEGASUS GALAXY goddamn, no wonder there's so much slashy fanfiction for this show. And on top of all the UST between the male characters, Keller and Teyla kept having adorable moments together, as did Keller and Sam. Outbreaks of lesbianism all over the place. In my mind.

Yesterday and today were my first proper shifts on the checkout. Once you get into the swing of things, it's actually very easy, unless someone does something unimaginably strange like hand you a coupon O_o
Plus I was on the 10-items-or-less checkout today, so people had bitesize amounts of shopping. And fewer screaming kids.

Tomorrow is my furmeet what I arranged all by me onesies. I'm also planning to have lots of people over tonight for drinks and debauchery. Rune is visiting Shirik because she and Kitt needed a slave to help them move house, and hopefully Avalanche made it to Exeter as well. Makari and Blue have Mika visiting, Yksi has Rhosyn and Cloakable is also in Exeter for a few days.

I want to get drunk.

This is a movie you should see: The Boat That Rocked.
This is why you should see it )

Work and stuff

Sainsburys phoned me on Thursday asking if I could come in for an induction yesterday. So I've just worked two nine-hour days and my feet hurt. Checkout training is on Monday, and then I shall be going home for nine days because I have Easter weekend off. I'll be working Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th, I've arranged a furmeet in Exeter on the 19th that looks like it's going to be popular, and I'll be working Monday the 20th... after that, things seem to settle down a bit. And the week after that, uni starts up again.

Tonight, the plan is to go to Havana because Pyrates are playing. It's advertised as a bar/restaurant, so I hope they're OK with us sitting with drinks and not ordering food.

Now I must leave, for I am hungry and there is no food in my house. Somewhere out there are cheesy chips with my name on them...

Ignore the deleted entry if it showed up, I was just checking whether this worked (I was asked for a transparent background and had never done one before.)
This will be a post about my weekend. By "weekend" I mean last Thursday to yesterday (Tuesday) - rather long for a weekend, but rats are fun-loving types.

There's a lot back here )

I can't even remember what we were doing on their website, but Yksi and I suddenly remembered these guys and our plan to stalk them at some point, so we checked their gig dates. Turns out they're playing in the pub just down the road from my house next Tuesday, and there isn't an entry fee or anything.

We're going to turn up dressed as pirates. I will drink Guinness because it's St Patrick's day. Yksi doesn't like Guinness but will drink Baileys instead. If you live in or near Exeter and are a pirate, you're welcome to join us.

On a related note, here's a (very) rough sketch of a picture I'm working on:

Arr, the paintin' be belowdecks. )
Oh, and on another related note, I wrote "Arr, Mumblypeg" on a napkin, drew a skull and crossbones next to it and left it on a table at Wetherspoons underneath the word "Yarr!", which Yksi had written in salt.

I got my scanner out ^^ (ooh, saucy)

There are 3 new pics on my DeviantART now. Including a Doctor Who fanart, because I'm a total Master fangirl. I watched Utopia, Here Come The Drums and Last of the Timelords yesterday and was grinning the entire way through.

Hello. Yesterday I dressed as a pirate for no good reason. I've been watching random episodes of Stargate Atlantis that I have on DVD. I find myself lighting candles just for the fun of it. To me, these seem like signs of boredom.

Fruit and veg update: today I ate some bourbon biscuits. Chocolate counts as a fruit, right? No? Um. What about wine?

Eurovision: at least we have some consolation in the fact that Germany and Poland were just as shit as we were (although we had the alphabetical disadvantage that put us last on the list of scores.) Towards the end we were hoping that the other two countries would get a couple of points each so that we could have the claim to last place all to ourselves.
Actually, I was surprised that Ireland voted for us. Seeing as it's all political, wouldn't it be logical for them to hate us?

At least Greece didn't win. The Russian act was boring and non-eventful (apart from the ice skater with terrible dance moves), but the Greek act was female and clichéd and scantily clad and so much like all the other boring acts. It looked for a while like she'd win (and that she'd die from gratitude), but then Russia stayed at the top for the last six or so countries that revealed their votes, so it was obvious who'd win.

Some acts worth mentioning:

Finland: I don't know why they were on Eurovision because they seemed like a band I'd actually listen to in a Finnish metal-y kind of way. Lordi had the cheese factor, these guys had... you know... talent and stuff.

Portugal: we got a busty woman with an incredible voice and everyone in the room starts bitching about how fat she is. You're not that attractive either, guys. This woman was talented, striking to look at and wearing an impressive dress. I like her.

Bosnia & Herzegovina: how very strange they were. But we liked it. Because it showed aspects of their nationality and Eurovision is all about the strange.

Georgia: reminded me of The Rocky Horror Show because they were wearing white and had sunglasses and were doing weird dances.

France: the guy looked like Jesus. And his backing singers all had fake beards. Even the women.

Spain: terrible, terrible song. Too terrible for Eurovision and yet it still scored higher than us. But I liked it for one reason - " Cuatro: el robocop."

Croatia: I wish we understood the lyrics. This was the one with the Mafia guys and the dancing ladies in red and it all looked very theatrical and the old guy was called "75 cents" which just shows that you're not supposed to take this kind of thing seriously.

Azerbaijan: the guy with angel wings singing in an impossibly high-pitched voice. And the devil guy poured fake blood over a woman who then proceeded to rub it into her chest. An impressive first entry for the country with the silly name.

Latvia: my favourites. Guess why. And what makes it better is that the lead pirate looked just like Tim Curry. And I love the name "Wolves of the Sea."

In summary: why didn't Latvia or Finland win? What was so special about Russia? Why did anyone at all vote for Spain? Why didn't we get more than 2 countries' votes? (We weren't that bad, surely.) The answer: the quality of the acts and how many votes they get are unrelated.

PS, Terry Wogan is the best voice-over ever. He cares about the show as much as the rest of us, which is to say, not at all.

I've been posting a lot recently and didn't intend to do it again for a week or so, but you have to hear about this. Last night some associates and I were at a pub called the Firehouse, which has a very nice country atmosphere. This particular night, however, the pub was filled with the sound of this.

Listen to these guys. They are made of win.

OK... I haven't posted in a while and my last post was a little bit emo. In case you were worried about my state of mind... don't. It was passing angst. I'm a teenager (for one more year at least) and it's what we do.

Anyway. I'll make this part brief: I'm no longer a lesbian. I am now bisexual. Also, I have a boyfriend.

So... now I'm a 19 year old. That means I'm almost an adult (chronologically, that is. I'll never be one mentally). It also means that 2 people bought me alcohol for my birthday - whee! And me and Anna (my birthday twin) had a pub crawl last night and everyone had to by us a drink. That was fun and interesting. I ended up outside Arena with my head in Anti's (the boyfriend) lap, insisting that I was OK to go back in. And then I jumped up and was fine again. And there was dancing. And I was a pirate, as always (at least I dressed up. Simon went as Mr Coe, the university student - Coe is his surname - and was inexplicably wearing a tie around his head).

That's it. For now. Apart from this what is a gryphon furry ranting about things in a humorous manner.

I love the internets

I'm supposed to be doing the essay that's due in tomorrow. But instead I had a very enjoyable nap. I have until 4 o clock tomorrow to hand it in and I intend to get up at about 9 ish. If that doesn't give me enough time, at least I'll be able to write 1000 words of complete crap and get at least some marks for it. I could be writing it now, but we all know that's not going to happen.

Let's see...

Hee hee hee hee! Check out the pirate and ninja foetuses I got from Fetusmart! (Because the site is American and can't spell things right)

Are you a pirate?

So... I have a lot of free time on my hands these days, which means I can sit around not doing anything catching Pokemon and stuff. In order to stop myself from going entirely insane, I created these things called "friends" to make me leave the house sometimes.
Hence going to the pub etc.

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl (I have the Diamond version) rocks, by the way. Check this out:

That's Purugly. It's gonna eat anyone who says Pokemon are uncool.

PS, I DARE YOU TO UNDERSTAND MY ICON!

Reasons why At World's End rocked:

1.

2. in a bathrobe, but I couldn't find a picture of that. Pirate King!

3. As always, the battle at the end

Does anyone know what happened to Anamaria? I think she sailed off in her own ship, but then she should have been at the big piratey gathering thing at Shipwreck Cove.

Anyway, I got a lot of revision done today and I think I might actually remember something worth writing down in the Psychology exam. I think I'm going to end up revising Psychology all day tomorrow and not doing any English revision, but that might actually be OK, because I've calculated and I only need a B in this English module to get an A overall and I'd quite like to get an A overall in Psychology, so it would be good to do OK in the exam on Tuesday.

The only thing is, I don't know how I'm going to do in Biology. Even if I devoted my entire time to revising for those exams, I have no idea what the outcome would be. The exams are so damn unpredicatable and stupid. Grr.

And, as you may be able to tell, I watched the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Don't read the rest if you haven't seen it. Seriously, I warned you. OK. I can't believe that Elizabeth gave up pirating and decided to live on land and bring up a son. (Didn't stay until the end of the trailers? You fail at life.) She was the fricking pirate king for Cthulu's sake and she had her own ship and everything. Failing all else, she could have jumped into the sea and drowned and she'd have been able to join Will's crew. But even if she'd decided to live... just because he can only go on land once every 10 years doesn't mean he can't visit other ships. It is possible to have sex on a ship, you know. Stupid dramatic ending. Oh yeah and I understand why Will hadn't aged in ten years, being dead and all, but she should have been looking a little older (you should have waited until the end of the credits, n00b).

Rant over. No wait, one more theing. The bit with lots of Jacks and a goat seemed very Tim Burton-esque, didn't it? It helped that it had Johnny Depp, but still... very cool and weird.

OK, rant really done now. Night night.
